Basic, Traditional Home Staging VS Real Estate Merchandising  

Basic, traditional Home Staging: consists mostly of temporary improvements to the overall appearance of a home, and of increasing the "perceived" value for a wide ranging and not very well targeted variety of prospective buyers.  This "old school" level of Home Staging deals almost entirely with "decorating" - I.E., the visual precepts of de-cluttering, depersonalizing, organizing, and of rearranging items within a space.  Basic, traditional Home Staging lacks the added dimension of the Merchandising component, and it is much more simplistic in nature then what is demanded of today's evolving and competitive marketplace. Traditional home staging work is typically completed quickly (often times within only a few hours), budgets are low, the focus is primarily on making due with what is already available in the sellers home, and the effectiveness and outcome of the work is much less than when full-service, well rounded, well strategized, next generation, properly targeted Real Estate Merchandising is introduced.
